STUDIO CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — STUDIO CITY (KTLA) — We survived Carmageddon, but are you ready for “Canyon-geddon”?
A major construction project will likely create traffic headaches on Coldwater Canyon.
City officials plan to hold a news conference on Monday morning to announce the project.
From March 23 to about April 26, Coldwater Canyon will be closed from Ventura Boulevard to Mulholland Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. During overnight hours and on Sundays, one lane in each direction will be open.
It’s part of a major improvement project to upgrade the city’s water infrastructure.
The LADWP wants to replace a 99-year-old pipe that was put in the area in 1914.
Coldwater Canyon is a major artery that connects the San Fernando Valley to the Westside. More than 1,400 cars use the thoroughfare every hour.
Alternate routes include Beverly Glen and Laurel Canyon, which will likely see increased congestion during the closure.
