PANORAMA CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — A man is under arrest after a bomb scare that forced people to evacuate at a San Fernando Valley hospital.
The man walked into the lobby of the Mission Community Hospital at about 6:30 p.m. and said he had a bomb inside a bag, according o police.
The hospital was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in.
Police arrested the suspect while the bomb squad examined the bag.
“We were able to spit open the bag with a water cannon, utilized by the bomb squad’s robot,” said LAPD Capt. Jeff Burt.
“We investigated the contents and found out it was only clothing — there was no suspicious device in there,” he said.
Dozens of patients were moved to the upper floors of the hospital during the bomb scare.
Police have not yet identified the suspect or commented on a possible motive.
