Gayle Anderson was live in the Fairfax District with STUDENTS RUN LA, participating in the ASICS LA Marathon.
More than 20,000 runners have registered for the 2013 ASICS LA Marathon, happening Sunday, March 17th.
This year’s race will once again start at Dodger Stadium at 1000 Elysian Park Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012. Race start time is 6:55 a.m. for wheelchairs, 7:00 a.m. for hand cycles, and 7:28 a.m. for all other participants. The race ends on Ocean Avenue at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and California Avenue in Santa Monica. This course is certified by USA Track & Field and is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
All participants should plan to pick-up race day packets at the 2013 ASICS LA Marathon Expo and Packet Pick-Up Friday, March 15th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 16th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ASICS LA Marathon Expo annually hosts more than 150 exhibitors featuring the brand new designs in running gear and shoes, as well as the latest developments in sports, fitness, and nutrition. Held at Dodger Stadium, the two day expo is FREE and open to the public.

All packets must be picked up at the expo during regular expo hours. There will be NO race day Packet Pick-Up! Packets will NOT be mailed to participants, NO EXCEPTIONS! You must bring a valid photo ID to Packet Pick-Up. If you cannot attend the expo, a friend can pick up your packet for you as long as they provide a copy of your photo ID as well as a signed note from you authorizing their picking up your race packet. NO EXCEPTIONS!
With thousands of volunteers, tens of thousands of participants, and hundreds of thousands of spectators, the LA Marathon is one of the largest organized road races in the country. The “Stadium to the Sea” course, which starts at Dodger Stadium and finishes by the Santa Monica Pier, is considered one of the most scenic in the world. The race has been named “Best Big City Race” by Runner’s World and “Best Marathon in the West” by Competitor Magazine.

Running a race is a great way of improving your health/fitness and self-confidence. However, running on behalf of a charity is proving more and more popular. Join the ASICS LA Marathon “I Run 4 Something” campaign and help support one of over 80 different charities participating in this year’s marathon. Today, Gayle was live with STUDENTS RUN LA, an organization that trains at-risk youngsters to use marathon running as a method of goal setting and achievement. The organization also uses the marathon as a fundraiser.

For those who would like to participate in the ASICS LA Marathon, but are unsure if they can complete the race, the Charity Relay is the way to go! Grab a friend or family member and team up to complete the marathon together! The Charity Relay is a unique way you and a partner can each complete a half of the ASICS LA Marathon course as part of a relay team. In order to participate, you must contact any of the Official Charities with available Charity Relay slots. You can then apply according to your charity’s instructions on their website. A limited number of team entries are available for Charity Relay. The team entry fee is $250. When accepted, the charity will e-mail you the guaranteed entry process for the Charity Relay.
