NORWALK — Family members are hoping a $5,000 reward will help urge someone to come forward with information in the hit and run death of 20-year-old Daniel Ortiz.
Ortiz, a former quarterback at Norwalk High School, died February 11 after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his skateboard.
The collision was first reported about 4:20 a.m. February 9 at Studebaker and Foster roads.
It appeared the vehicle was northbound on Studebaker when it struck the skateboarder, who was crossing the road within a marked cross walk.
So far, no witnesses have come forward.
Investigators say based on the debris found at the scene, it appears the vehicle was a metallic blue Nissan Titan and would likely have front end damage.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Norwalk Station at 562-863-8711.
