 This is the last weekend we can appreciate the glamour, luxury and artistry of cinematic couture at the Bowers Museum. The exhibition CUT! COSTUME AND CINEMA features 43-costumes worn by 30-actors in 25 different films. Many of these costumes have won major awards including Oscars from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and BAFTAs from the British Association of Film and Television Arts.

Think expensive Hollywood props when you see the eight signature pieces of jewelry once owned by actress Elizabeth Taylor. 
The Bulgari pieces were “ reacquired “ by the exclusive jewelry establishment after Taylor’s death. The company spent millions of dollars at the 2011 Christie’s auction of the actresses jewelry.
Among the pieces are the engagement ring actor Richard Burton gave to Taylor and a brooch and necklace he also bought for her. The brooch and necklace each went for more than $6 million at Christie’s.

 You might call this is an historic jewel.

President George Washington’s personal copy of the Constitution, Acts of Congress. It’s on  display at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.  This is the Constitution’s first stop on a nationwide tour to each of the 13 presidential libraries. The well preserved book includes President Washington’s copy of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other legislation passed by the first session of Congress, complete with his personal annotations.
This rare volume attracted worldwide attention last summer when it sold at auction for nearly ten-million dollars, a  world record for an American historical document.

 While you’re at the Petersen Automotive Museum, go to the basement for the VAULT TOUR. Normally, only museum staff is allowed in the special area that houses more than three hundred historic vehicles.
No more than 20-people at a time are allowed on the hour-long tours in the vault, which is about the size of a football field.
