Queen Mary Commodore, Everette Hoard, talked about the historical crossing of sister ships, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary on Tuesday, March 12th. Cunard’s newest ocean liner, the 90,000 ton Queen Elizabeth is set to visit the Queen Mary in Long Beach. This reunion is 45 years in the making (since the QM retired in 1967). This will be the first time these sister ships have crossed paths since 1967 and the third time in over three decades that another Cunard ship has visited the Queen Mary.
The reunion event will include aerial photography and live video feed provided by the Goddyear Blimp and commentary by Queen Mary Commodore, Everette Hoard. There will be a traditional whistle salute by both the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth and a fireworks show. The Diana: Legacy of a Princess exhibit will have extended hours until 8pm and a special price of $9.95. There will also be a specially designed menu at Sir Winston’s Restaurant and Lounge.
