HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. (KTLA) — Police are engaged in a standoff with a man believed to be the gunman in a shooting spree that left 4 people dead and 2 wounded in the historic Mohawk Valley region.
Police said Kurt Myers, 64, is believed to be holed up in the vacant floors above the former bar “Glory Days.”
He is then accused of shooting and killing 2 more men at Gaffney’s Car Wash.
Police said Myers began the day by setting fire to his apartment about 9:30 a.m.
Investigators found several weapons and ammunition inside the apartment.
The reason for the rampage is not known, but according to the N.Y. Times, Myers is a well-known presence in the small community.
According to the newspaper, Myers was seen frequently around town and was described by neighbors as often acting disturbed.
