PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (KTLA) — A construction worker was killed after he and another worker got trapped in a trench in Pacific Palisades.
The pair was inside a 15-foot deep trench on Thursday when the walls caved in and buried them.
The victims were working for a subcontractor on a storm-water treatment project at 200 Temescal Canyon Road and were excavating the trench, authorities said.
The second worker was pulled to safety in a rescue effort that lasted more than an hour after firefighters arrived at the scene.
He was rushed by ambulance to the nearest beach, where he was met by a helicopter and airlifted to UCLA Medical Center.
He was listed in stable condition and is expected to be okay.
Temescal Canyon Road was closed at the accident site.
