Woman’s Body Found on Sidewalk in Northridge
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found in front of a home in Northridge.
The discovery was made around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 10200 block of Encino Avenue, near Devonshire Street.
A woman driving by with her daughter spotted the victim slumped over by the sidewalk.
“I thought it was just somebody laying in the grass,” the woman, who wanted to remain unidentified, told KTLA.
“I drove up and looked and her face was gray. It really freaked me out,” she said.
The woman said the victim didn’t appear bloodied or bruised but looked to have been there for some time.
She said she wanted to call for help but didn’t have her cell phone.
“I flagged down another lady that was at the light here and I said ‘call 911, there’s somebody down over there.”‘
Paramedics responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The victim — said to be in her 30s — has not been identified.
There was no information about the cause of death. It was also unclear if the woman died at the scene or if her body was dumped there.
“We have been investigating, we have looked at the property here. We still don’t know her connection to the property,” said LAPD Det. Harvey Martin.
Investigators had the street closed for some 12 hours. They removed a car from in front of the residence, but would only say that it was a vehicle of interest.
Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD’s Devonshire Division.
