VENTURA, Calif. (KTLA) — A man was shot and killed by Ventura police after he tried to hit officers with his truck, authorities said.
It happened around 7 p.m. Thursday at a Motel 6 on Harbor Boulevard and Monmouth Way.
Two Ventura police officers responded to a disturbing the peace call. The man involved was a guest at the motel.
The officers were escorting the man out of the motel when he ran off, got into a truck and tried to escape, police said.
Officers opened fire at the vehicle coming toward them.
One officer was hit and the other was run over, according to police.
Police units arriving at the scene found the two injured officers on the ground and the suspect dead inside the truck.
The name of the suspect has not been released. Authorities also did not release any details about the officers.
