Welcome to Southern California.
Forget about Carmageddon and the 405.
The flashing sign says it all: the latest closure affects north-south artery Coldwater Canyon Avenue between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive.
The passageway through the hills between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside officially closed for one month, starting Saturday, March 23.
The L.A. DWP has to replace a nearly 100 year old water main along the busy mountain route.
Officials say the move is critical to ensure safe drinking water for people in the area.
In the evenings and on Sundays, one lane in each direction will be open. However, the rest of the time Coldwater will be off limits.
Drivers are urged to start planning alternate routes.
Apparently not everyone will be barred from using Coldwater Canyon Avenue during the pipeline replacement project.
The DWP will be giving people who live in the area and go to schools in the area, special access permits.
