San Bernardino, Calif. – KTLA Concerned relatives and friends gathered on the campus of Cal State San Bernardino Saturday for a prayer vigil in support of alumna Terrilynn Monette.

The 26-year-old disappeared earlier this month while out with friends in New Orleans.

A Long Beach native, Monnette moved to Louisiana last year after graduating from Cal State University, San Bernardino.

She was teaching inner-city children as part of the teachNOLA program.

“This isn’t fair… not fair at all,” said friend Cherelle Tisby. “She went to New Orleans to make a difference in their community, and now it’s affected our community.”

Monnette had just been nominated for a teacher of the year award.

She was out celebrating with friends at a bar in Lakeview, a neighborhood in New Orleans in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 2 and hasn’t been seen since.

Prayer vigils for Monette have also been held in New Orleans and in her hometown of Long Beach.
