Classmates Honor Teen Who Died in Fall From Hiking Trail

PASADENA, Calif. — Dozens of classmates and friends gathered Monday to honor a 17-year old student who died in a fall while hiking in Eaton Canyon.

The deadly fall occurred about 11:27 a.m. Friday in the 2200 block of Pinecrest Drive.

Esther Suen, a senior at Mark Keppel High School, was found dead at the scene of apparent head injuries after falling about 200 feet.

A second hiker, an 18-year-old boy, was airlifted to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena with non-life-threatening injuries.

He reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Two other hiking companions were not injured.
