Cops Call Temple City Woman’s Death ‘Suspicious’ — Sara Welch Reports
TEMPLE CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — Residents of a quiet Temple City neighborhood were shocked Sunday when a woman was found dead inside her home.
Investigators are still piecing together what happened, but they say the death looks suspicious.
The woman lived in the 10300 block of Key West Street, an area neighbors say is relatively quiet. Officials say the 65-year-old woman’s daughter called 911 after finding her body about 8 a.m. Homicide investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded and have scoured her home for clues ever since.
The daughter found her mother face down in a pool of blood on the home’s first floor, according to officials. Police say the daughter told them she hadn’t heard from her mother since Thursday, which was unusual.
When the daughter arrived at the home, she reported that her mother had been shot but homicide detectives say they haven’t found any obvious signs of a gunshot wound.
“Based on the position of the body, there’s just no way we’re able to determine if there’s a gunshot wound or blunt-force trauma or any type of stabbing or anything like that,” said Lt. Eddie Hernandez. “We don’t believe this was suicide.”
Investigators say there was no sign of forced entry into the home. The victim lived alone and was retired, according to police officials.
