Patrol Car Crash in Downtown LA Injures 7 — Stefan Chase Reports
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) — Police are investigating what caused a sheriff’s patrol car to crash into a mini-van Sunday in downtown Los Angeles.
The crash happened about 10:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Arcadia Street.
A witness at the scene said he saw the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy stopped at a red light and heard a loud crash moments after the light turned green. The deputy was the lone passenger in the patrol car that crashed into the mini-van, which carried six people.
All seven people involved in the crash were hospitalized with injuries. Officials say four of those victims are listed in serious condition.
Both vehicles involved rolled over, the damage to the van was so severe, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to pull the victims from the wreckage.
