temple-cityTEMPLE CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — Homicide detectives say a 65-year-old woman found dead inside her home in Temple City was murdered.

The woman’s daughter discovered the body around 8:55 a.m. Sunday in at the home in the 10300 block of Key West Street.

Police said there was no obvious sign of forced entry into the house.

Neighbors identified the victim as Carmen Garcia, a longtime resident of Temple City.

They said her husband died a few months ago, and she now lives alone. She owned a few properties in the area.

One neighbor said that her husband last saw the victim on Thursday.

“She was walking and he said that he didn’t think a whole lot of it back then, but she didn’t look right,” Rose Maria Luna said. “She looked despondent, like she had something on her mind.”

According to investigators, Garcia’s daughter said she had not heard from her since Thursday, which was unusual.

After several phone calls went unanswered, the daughter drove to the house to check on her mother.

Anyone with information regarding the death is asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

You can give information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
