KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — Shain Gandee, one of the stars of the MTV reality show “Buckwild,” has been found dead along with two other people in West Virginia.
21-year-old, his uncle David Gandee, 48, and the third man were found in a truck Monday near Sissonville.
The 1984 Ford Bronco was found wrecked in a muddy area a few miles from Gandee’s home, about 15 miles outside of Charleston.
Authorities had been searching for the men since early Sunday morning.
They were last seen around 3 a.m. Sunday at a bar in Sissonville and they told people they were going driving off-road.
“This is a very sad and tragic event,” Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper said.
“We live in a very small community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gandee family. The full details will be released later by the Kanawha County Sheriff Department.”
Gandee was one of the nine cast members of “Buckwild.”
The show follows a group of young adults trying to have fun in Sissonville, West Virginia, pulling stunts like turning a dump truck into a swimming pool or just riding around the woods on their all-terrain vehicles.
Gandee was billed as a former high school prom king who had done “every job from coal mining to being a garbage man.”
Two other cast members have recently been in the news: Salwa Amin was taken into custody after violating terms of her release on pending drug charges.
And, in February, Michael Douglas Burford was charged with driving under the influence.
