MALIBU, Calif. (KTLA) — The son of screen legend Clark Gable was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of DUI and hit and run after allegedly striking several cars on PCH in Malibu.
John Clark Gable, 52, was allegedly driving a white Ford Raptor that rear-ended a vehicle near the Malibu Pier at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s officials told the Malibu Patch.
The motorist who was hit called 911 while following the pickup, which then crashed into six parked cars, the Patch reported.
“The police guy opened the door for his truck and was telling him to get out of his truck,” witness Geno Bahena told KTLA.
“It took him a few seconds to get out of his truck and then finally when he got out I guess he was in shock or something… He just fell on the floor.”
Gable was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
The cleanup and investigation caused a massive traffic jam that extended for miles.
Gable was in the news almost a year ago, when his 41-year-old girlfriend was found dead.
Christiane Candice Lange, a celebrity make-up artist, was found unresponsive at the couple’s home in the 30600 block of Morning View Drive on April 11th.
There were no signs of foul play and her death was believed to due to a prescription drug overdose.
The grandson of the legendary actor — Clark Gable III — is also no stranger to law enforcement.
He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and ordered to complete 200 hours on a Caltrans crew in 2012 for pointing a laser beam at a LAPD helicopter.
The 23-year old pleaded guilty to shining a laser light at the aircraft that was flying above Hollywood Boulevard on July 28.
He claimed he was trying to point the laser at the Hollywood sign while driving around with friends but missed.
Officers say the light briefly obstructed the vision of the two officers inside the helicopter.
Ground units were called and the light was tracked to a small red car that LAPD officers pulled over at Franklin and Highland. The driver and Gable were arrested.
