LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Dreams of becoming a multi-millionaire are now more of a reality, as the Powerball lottery arrives in California on Monday.

The Golden State becomes the 43rd state to join the Powerball system.

The Powerball jackpots are bigger than Mega Millions or SuperLotto. They start at $40 million and go up from there.

Last year, one jackpot got up to about $656 million.

Each Powerball ticket costs $2, instead of the usual $1. You pick five numbers, plus a Powerball number, from 1 to 35.

Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

It’s expected that the state will earn anywhere from $90 million to $120 million in annual revenue from Powerball sales.
