Gusts up to 80 mph hit the Southland.

High winds toppled trees and a massive dust cloud forced the closure of  the 14 Freeway in both directions from Lancaster into Kern County.

The effects were felt in the San Fernando Valley too.

In Valley Village a massive tree limb snapped in half and fell on a car.

City crews were out late cleaning up Riverside Drive so that overnight traffic could get through.

Downtown, another tree toppled over near City Hall and in Los Feliz high winds knocked over a tree that ended up blocking two lanes of traffic Los Feliz Blvd.

The gusts continue this evening and a high surf advisory is also in effect.
