SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KTLA) — A registered sex offender has been arrested in connection with the 2012 murder of an elderly woman.
57-year-old Jerome Anthony Rogers was taken into custody Friday in the 300 block of West 48th Street in San Bernardino..
Rogers is suspected of killing 76-year-old Mary Beth Blaskey in her home last November.
Police say Blaskey’s son found her body when he arrived at her home to take her to a doctor’s appointment.
Rogers may have gained access to the victim’s home by posing as a handyman.
Police say Blaskey was sexually assaulted, and Rogers was linked to the crime scene through DNA evidence.
As a registered sex offender, Rogers’ DNA was already in the state database, according to authorities.
Police are still searching for a possible accomplice in the case.
