CASTAIC, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation is underway after a body was found in the Angeles National Forest near Lake Castaic.
The remains were found Wednesday evening on San Francisquito Canyon Road, about five miles south of Spunky Canyon Road.
The body was badly decomposed and stuffed in a bag, according to media reports Thursday.
Utility workers found the remains about 5:45 p.m. Some sort of foul smell apparently caught their attention.
The area where the remains were found is quite desolate, authorities say.
Homicide detectives with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department are still investigating the case. Still no word on the identity of the victim or the cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
