LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — The Powerball jackpot has been raised to about $70 million, after there was no winner on Wednesday night.
California’s first Powerball drawing had would-be millionaires lining up across the state.
The winning numbers from Wednesday’s $60 million drawing were: 1, 36, 40, 52 and 53. The Powerball number was 20.
There were two tickets that matched the five winning numbers. They are worth $215,000 each.
But according to Powerball officials, no tickets in the country matched all six numbers.
The next drawing will be held on Saturday night.
With the addition of California, Powerball is now played in 43 states, as well as Washington D.C. and the Virgin Islands.
Tickets were sold in California for the first time on Monday, and more than $3 million in revenue was generated in just 24 hours.
Powerball jackpots are bigger than Mega Millions or SuperLotto. They start at $40 million and go up from there.
Each Powerball ticket costs $2, instead of the usual $1. You pick five numbers, plus a Powerball number, from 1 to 35.
