Student Accused of Bringing Loaded Gun to School

hand–cuffsLANCASTER, Calif. (KTLA) — A teenager was arrested at a high school in Quartz Hill Thursday after allegedly bring a loaded weapon to school.

The principal of Desert Pathways High School says he received information that a student was on campus and possibly armed with a loaded pistol.

After locating the student, the principal discovered that the student was indeed carrying a loaded .45 caliber pistol.

The principal recovered the firearm and held it until sheriff deputies arrived.

The student told authorities that he needed the firearm for protection when traveling to and from school.

Authorities say there were never any threats made toward staff or students.
