Sigalert Lifted After Truck Spills 20 Tons of Asphalt
GARDENA (KTLA) – Early Sunday morning (April 14), a truck carrying some 20 tons of asphalt overturned and spilled the asphalt onto the northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Gardena, creating a clean-up mess for Caltrans crews.
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. The spill closed the number four lane on the freeway and the Normandie Avenue off-ramp.
There were no injuries related to the accident.
Highway officials on the scene investigated whether another vehicle was involved that might have played a role in the truck’s overturning.
Shortly before 8:00 a.m., the Sigalert that had been issued in connection with the spill was lifted.
