quartz-hillQUARTZ HILL, Calif. (KTLA) — Sheriff’s homicide detectives are continuing their investigation after a human skull was discovered in Quartz Hill.

The skull was found around 4 p.m. Sunday in what’s being called a field in the 6200 block of West Avenue N.

Apparently, it was a family dog that made the disturbing discovery.

“One of the residents in the area found the skull and contacted the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station,” said sheriff’s Lt. Holly Francisco.

Search teams returned to the area on Monday to search for more remains.

They were also going through local missing persons cases to look for possible connections.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau.

Authorities should scout Antelope Valley and Mojave on a routine basis because they'll, unfortunately, probably find more human remains.
