GLENDALE, Calif. — A man held two pregnant pharmacy workers at gunpoint on Wednesday after demanding powerful prescription painkillers in a note.
It happened just after noon at Ariana Medical Pharmacy, located in the 3600 block of North Verdugo Road.
Owner Karmen Sefyan and a co-worker were alone inside the drugstore when she said a man walked in pointing a gun at them.
Sefyan — whose pregnancy is nearly full term — and her co-worker were not harmed during the incident, which she said lasted only a few minutes.
The man was gripping a demand note for the prescription narcotic pain reliever Norco, Sefyan said, which is stronger than the popular painkiller Vicodin.
She quickly read the note, grabbed a 500-count bottle of Norco from her prescription drug supply, and handed it to the man, who she said appeared to be nervous.
He never exchanged words with the women during the incident. After grabbing the bottle, he walked out of the pharmacy.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 190 pounds.
He was wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, and was last seen getting into a dark sedan, according to Glendale police.
