Tear Gas Ends Standoff at Home of “American Pie” Actor
HOLLYWOOD HILLS (KTLA) — A real-life drama played out at the Hollywood Hills home of actor Eddie Kay Thomas on Wednesday, after a woman reportedly turned on him with a knife.
Thomas is best known for his role as Paul Finch in the “American Pie” movies.
Police were called to the 2500 block of Hargrave Drive just after 1:00 p.m. about a house guest who refused to leave and started ransacking the home.
“The suspect was a guest overnight and this morning was asked to leave, refused to leave, became agitated, armed herself with a knife,” LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman said.
“Some information presented that she pulled some phones out of the wall,” he added.
Police responded with tactical teams and a helicopter.
The unidentified woman kept authorities at bay for about five and a half hours. Tear gas was eventually used to get her to surrender.
The woman was taken into custody about 6:30 p.m. She will likely face charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
