Dramatic Video of How a Pressure Cooker Bomb Works — Jim Nash Reports

In the New Mexico desert… explosives experts replicate the pressure cooker bomb used in Boston

One bomb… turned into ragged shrapnel… scattered more than a hundred yards.

Part of the pressure cooker… now mangled and razor-sharp.

Plywood is pierced by metal nuts.

Here’s the blast… shot by a high-speed camera.

A ball of fire – but watch the shock wave move out across the desert floor.

Meanwhile back on Boston’s Boylston Street… employees return to work for the first time since the bombing.

Accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev seriously wounded and heavily sedated… was arraigned by a federal magistrate in his room at Beth Israel hospital.

He answered questions by nodding his head.

The 19-year-old is charged with using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction resulting in death… and malicious destruction of property resulting in death.

A transcript says he only spoke when asked if he could afford a lawyer…  he said “no”… and was appointed a public defender.

The Washington post is reporting that Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has allegedly confessed to planting the bombs with his brother – because they were angry at the U.S. for the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
