Eating Mindfully … ?
Now that the weather is warmer, it’s time to get outside and get healthy.
This includes eating better. For me, this means slowing down. I’m an equal opportunity eater. I like everything, fruits, veggies, meats, nuts, seeds, legumes, and yes fast food, breads, pastas, deserts, you name, and I inhale it.
Well, let me rephrase that. I want to inhale but I don’t. Instead I pretend I do and walk away, until the weekend, then I inhale it. I have whatever I want on the Saturday and Sunday, that’s my life style.
One of my biggest food issues is slowing down. I turn into a vacuum cleaner. I love food and suck it down. Sometimes I’m sure I look like my dog. She gulps down whatever I give her.
Reports say that you should slow down, look at your food, smell it, appreciate it and then eat it mindfully and slowly. Research shows it helps the brain register when you’re full which prevents overeating.

While I’m not great about all the mindful eating tips, I make an effort. Eating a grapefruit one wedge at time really slows me down because of all the work it takes.
