Armed Man Shot, Killed by Long Beach Police

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — A man who was shot early Sunday Morning by a Long Beach police officer has died.

Police say they received a call at about 12:20 a.m. of a man with a gun in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Butler Avenue.

Investigators report a officer confronted the suspect in an alley behind Eddie’s Jr Market and the man was shot.

However, the officer was not injured. The suspect was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, but died a short time later.

Police say a handgun was recovered at the scene.
