VA Hospital ER Evacuated Over Possible Grenade – Christina Pascucci Reports
LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Authorities responded to a report of a possible hand grenade at the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center on Monday.
The device was determined to be harmless, according to Ed Casey, chief of the Greater L.A. Veterans Affairs Police Department.
Police detained a person of interest and were searching his vehicle.
The emergency room was evacuated just before 7 a.m. after an employee found the object in a bathroom.
The sheriff’s department bomb squad was called in to look at the device. They determined that it was fake, but had been made to look real.
The interior perimeter of the ER was evacuated, along with a secondary circle. The rest of the building was not evacuated.
