Gusty Winds to Hit SoCal; Red Flag Warning In Effect – Chip Yost Reports
LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Forecasted gusty northeast winds and low relative humidity levels have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning Wednesday.
The warning will remain in place for most of Los Angeles County through 5 p.m. Friday.
The strong northeast winds are expected to filter down into the valleys and reach the Santa Monica Mountains Wednesday afternoon.
As the winds develop, relative humidity will fall dramatically, dropping into the teens and single digits, according to the NWS.
Winds are predicted to gust from between 45 to 55 mph in the mountain areas and 35 to 45 mph in the valleys, resulting in a high fire danger throughout Los Angeles County.
In response to the increased fire danger, Los Angeles County Fire has ordered additional staffing and the pre-deployment of resources throughout Los Angeles County.
