Mountain Lion Discovered in Lancaster Front Yard

LANCASTER, Calif. (KTLA) — A Lancaster woman got quite a surprise Monday morning when she discovered a cat up her tree.

But this wasn’t just any cat, it was a 125 pound mountain lion.

The homeowner was alerted by her dog’s barking in the yard.

When she went out to investigate, she found the mountain lion sitting in the tree.

She called 911 and when deputies arrived, they shot the big cat with a tranquilizer dart.

Officials say the mountain lion was about 3-years old.

She was taken to an undisclosed location and released back into the wild.
