Man Sought in Compton Strip Mall Crash, Fire

COMPTON, Calif. (KTLA) — Police were searching for a driver who crashed a pickup truck into a building in Compton on Tuesday, causing both to catch fire.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. at a strip mall at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Pine Street, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators.

A pick-up truck slammed into El Infierno Restaurant. Both the vehicle and the restaurant subsequently caught fire.

Based on a previous incident, authorities said they believe it was an intentional act of arson.

No one was injured during the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton Station.
