Huntington Beach Gun Thief Apparently a Boy

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — Police were searching on Thursday for a thief who stole a loaded handgun from a truck in Huntington Beach, and who may be a young boy.

The robbery occurred on April 27 outside victim Jeff Kindness’ house in Huntington Beach, and it was caught on surveillance video.

The alleged burglar appears to be no more than a teenager. He stole a 9mm stainless steel Beretta, Kindness said.

The thief appeared to be doing an activity known as “car surfing,” in which thieves look for cars with unlocked doors.

Kindness was offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the thief.

“I became quite upset to know there’s a possible teenager walking around the streets with a loaded firearm,” Kindness said in an exclusive interview with KTLA.

“If this gun was used in a crime, I would feel even more terrible about it,” he said.
