LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — After two years of renovations to one of the city’s historic landmarks, officials announced a reopening date for Echo Park Lake Friday.
The reopening date for the newly rehabilitated lake was set for June 15, L.A. City Councilman and mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti said.
The upgraded lake features fountains, fresh grass and the addition of variety of native plants.
The lake was drained during the renovation process so crews could remove the overgrown algae and trash that permeated the lake.
The park was closed in 2011 for the rehab project funded by Prop O, which was approved by voters in 2004.
