SILVER LAKE, Calif. (KTLA) — People who exercise on the popular Silver Lake Reservoir path were being warned Friday about some recent robberies.
There have been two robberies reported in the last two weeks, according to police.
The most recent one happened around 8 p.m. Monday at Hawick Street and West Silver Lake Drive, on the west side of the lake.
“I was grabbed from behind and pushed the ground by three young guys,” the alleged victim said an email to the Eastsider.
“They started yelling at me to give up my cell phone but I held onto it. They ended up grabbing my headphones and ran,” the man said.
He said he suffered some scrapes on his knees and a cut on his neck.
Witnesses described the suspects as Latino men in their late teens or early 20s, wearing dark clothes and hoodies.
They got into a gray or silver car, possibly a Honda, according to the email.
In addition to the robberies, there have also been several car break-ins in the area recently.
Police said they do not think the incidents are a sign of an ongoing problem at the Reservoir, but they warned people to be vigilant.
