UC Irvine Student Reportedly Told ‘Go Back 2 Africa’
Stephanie Lyons fears for her daughter’s safety.
“If they were brave enough to put that note there, who knows what extent they’ll go to next time to make a point,” Lyons said.
Tuesday night, a note was slipped under the door of Charity Lyon’s dorm room on the US Irvine campus.
Charity is a freshman on an academic scholarship, and a member of the track team.
And she’s been targeted before.
Charity told her family last week, another student of Asian decent called her the ‘n’ word.
This isn’t the first time UC Irvine has had to deal with accusations of racism on campus.
Just last week … an Asian fraternity was shut down for a year for publishing a black face video.
The school is still investigating the fraternity. And now, the note slipped to Charity Lyons.
UCI officials would not comment on whether racism, specifically between Asians and African-Americans is an emerging problem on campus.
But Charity’s mother says, regardless, she wants her daughter to study somewhere else.
