Parking Protest Could Upstage Loyola Marymount Graduation
WESTCHESTER, Calif. (KTLA) — Graduates and their families were met by protesters Saturday at Loyola Marymount University.
Upset about the tight parking situation on campus, protesters were hoping to upstage the school’s graduation ceremonies.
Activists complain there is not enough parking on campus, forcing many students to leave their cars in surrounding neighborhoods.
The university has said it is taking steps to address the problem, by building a new parking structure.
To pay for the facility, the school is charging higher parking fees, which has also upset many students.
The new parking structure is scheduled to be completed within two years.
