Santa Clarita Residents Warned After Coyote Attack
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KTLA) — Residents in Santa Clarita were warned on Wednesday about at least one aggressive coyote in the area.
A coyote attacked and killed a dog last Tuesday at Summit Park in Valencia, authorities said.
The dog, a small terrier, was being walked on a leash by a 6-year-old girl and her mother.
Then, last Friday, a jogger in the same area reported being chased by a coyote.
She was helped by a man walking two large dogs, who managed to scare the coyote back into the brush, according to authorities.
Los Angeles County Animal Control was working with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife to monitor coyote activity in the area.
Signs were posted at Summit Park alerting people about the recent incidents and urging them to remain vigilant.
