PALMDALE, Calif. (KTLA) — Authorities on Sunday were investigating an alleged break-in at Horizon Community Church in Palmdale.
A gardener discovered damage to the house of worship around 10 a.m. on Saturday, according to church officials.
Doors of the church were damaged, and a safe had been opened and documents stolen, Pastor K.C. Wahe said.
A deposit box had also been broken into, but there was no money stored inside overnight, Wahe added.
Someone also turned on a fire hose inside the church and caused extensive water damage.
Sunday services went on as planned but took place in a courtyard outside the church, according to Wahe.
No arrests had been made as of Sunday.
Palmdale sheriff’s deputies were looking at surveillance video from surrounding businesses.
Repairs to the church were expected to cost around $50,000.
