INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — An officer shot and killed a man who was breaking patrol car windows in a parking lot of the Inglewood Police Department on Saturday, Inglewood Police Officer Lt. Fried said.
The man, who was carrying a blade-like weapon resembling a sword, refused to comply with commands to stop the vandalism, Fried added.
The man then advanced toward an officer and the officer opened fire, Inglewood Police Lt. Gabriela Garcia said.
He was treated and transported to a local hospital, where he later died during surgery.
The officer was on administrative leave while an investigation into the incident was pending.
