Big-Rig Crash Snarls Traffic on 210 in Monrovia
MONROVIA, Calif. (KTLA) — Traffic was backed up on the 210 Freeway in Monrovia Monday morning after a big rig crashed through the center divider and overturned.
The crash was reported just before 5 a.m. near Huntington Drive.
The driver of a big rig heading eastbound in the No. 4 lane veered left and hit the guard rail, crashing through it, CHP officials said.
It wasn’t clear what caused him to swerve into the median.
The trailer of the big rig ended up on its side in the westbound lanes.
The driver, who was not seriously hurt, told authorities he was hauling 35,000 pounds of grapes.
Traffic on the westbound side was reduced to just two lanes. Three lanes were open on the eastbound side.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway reopened around 11 a.m., but two westbound lanes were expected to remain closed in Monrovia through at least 3 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
