A big rig and two passenger vehicles were involved in a crash on the southbound 14 Freeway.

The collision happened just after 4 a.m. on the southbound 14 near Sand Canyon Road.

A SigAlert was issued by the California Highway Patrol around 4:30 a.m.

The three right lanes were blocked, leaving only the far left lane open. The backup was extensive coming out of the Antelope Valley.

Caltrans said the cleanup could take until 2 p.m.

The crash caused the big rig to flip onto its side. It was carrying 39,000 pounds of meat, CHP officials said.

The two other vehicles involved sustained significant damage, and debris was littered across the roadway.

Drivers were advised to take Soledad Canyon Road or Sierra Highway as alternates.
