SANTA PAULA, Calif. (KTLA) — Detectives were searching Tuesday for a woman’s attacker after she was sexually assaulted at knifepoint in Santa Paula.
The incident happened at about 9 a.m. Monday when the woman was walking alone along Santa Paula Road, near Peck Road, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
A man approached the victim and forced her at knifepoint into a nearby orchard where she was sexually assaulted.
The woman sustained minor injuries, but did not require medical aid, detectives said.
The attacker was described as a white man, between 20 and 30 years old.
He was about 5 feet tall with a medium build. The man was wearing dark clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt.
The attacker was last seen running westbound on Santa Paula Road, towards Briggs Road, investigators said.
In February, there was a similar attack in the same area.
That attacker had been described as a Hispanic male, about 35 to 45 years old, with a large belly.
Authorities had not ruled out the possibility the two incidents could be related.
Residents were cautioned to be aware of any suspicious people in the area.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Matt Delahuerta at 805-384-4740.
Ventura County Crime Stoppers offered to pay up to $1,000 reward for information, which leads to the arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for the crime.
