Dalman, 59, was last seen around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, according to a statement from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station.

Dalman and a friend, 56-year-old Bruce Jackson, drove to the area of Crystal Mountain near the Eye of God for a day hike, sheriff’s officials said.

They brought along Jackson’s dog, and at some point the dog got away and was running loose, Jackson told deputies.

The pair became separated while looking for the dog, Jackson said.

He spent two days walking in the woods before he found his way back to his car on Thursday and notified authorities that Dalman was missing, authorities said.

Rescuers found Jackson’s dog on Friday afternoon.

“The dog was very agitated when it was located. Probably very hungry, but in good overall physical condition,” said Tiffany Swantek, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Searchers also found Dalman’s purse and a bucket she used to collect rocks.

The coroner was planning to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
