UCLA Brain Surgery Patient Plays Guitar During Operation
WESTWOOD (KTLA) – Remarkable video released by UCLA Medical Center shows the advances of brain surgery technology.
On Thursday morning (May 23), doctors at UCLA used Twitter to document the implant of a brain pacemaker for a patient. The procedure was intended to combat the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s disease.
Mid-way through the brain surgery, the patient was awakened and asked to perform a series of cognitive test to gauge his brain function, coordination, and mobility.
Beyond responding to simple cues from doctors to raise his arm and other motor skill functions, the patient showed that he was even able to play his guitar.
