2 Shot in Alley Near Santa Monica College

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KTLA) — Police were searching for a gunman after two people were shot in an alley near Santa Monica College on Tuesday morning.

It happened around 8:25 a.m. at 1520 Michigan Ave., just a few blocks from the campus, according to police.

The victims, both Hispanic men, were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Santa Monica police confirmed one of the victims has died.

The condition of the other man was unknown.

The shooter approached the victims on foot, fired multiple rounds and then fled in a car, police said.

He was described as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds, wearing a white shirt with red stripes and blue shorts.

Police were possibly looking for a blue Infiniti with a partial license plate number 5HX-287.

It was too early to determine if the shooting was gang-related, authorities said.

The incident followed a shooting rampage in Santa Monica on Friday that left six people dead, including the gunman.

There was no indication that the two incidents were related, police said.
