RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KTLA) — A 21-year-old college student at UC Riverside remained in custody on Wednesday, accused of trying to get her new boyfriend to kill her ex-boyfriend.
According to the Press-Enterprise, Barbara Wu was charged in May with soliciting murder, making terrorist threats, vandalism, stalking and other crimes.
She pleaded not guilty at a hearing on Tuesday.
Wu’s current boyfriend got a restraining order against her, two days after she allegedly asked him to kill her former lover.
In the order of protection, Dennis Lin wrote that Wu wanted him to break the man’s legs with a baseball bat, kill him and discard the body.
At the request of school police, Lin recorded a conversation with Wu allegedly discussing the plot.
Wu is also accused of posting a fake ad on Craigslist, soliciting sex for her ex to get back at him.
“Passions and emotions are a scary thing,” Wu tweeted just before her arrest.
Wu was being held on $500,000 bail. She was ordered back to court July 9 for a felony settlement conference.
